What a gas fire pit installation includes
Gas line and supply
The feature has to be fed from somewhere, and where the line runs affects where the pit can sit, so it gets planned early rather than worked around later. A licensed plumber makes the connection at the gas meter. We work with several regularly and coordinate that part for you.
Built into the hardscape
The pit is designed as part of the patio and seating rather than dropped onto it. Surround material, height, and the distance to seating all get set together.
Clean-burning, no embers
There are no popping embers and no unpredictable sparks, which is what makes gas a safer choice near a house or under a pergola than a wood fire.
Instant on and instant off
The flame goes out when you turn it off. Nothing has to burn down before you go inside, and nothing keeps smoldering after you do.
Smoke-free seating
Nobody has to move their chair. That sounds minor until you have spent an evening chasing wood smoke around a patio.
Custom metal fire features
Because we weld in house, the fire feature does not have to be something off a shelf. If you want a specific shape or a steel surround built to the space, we can fabricate it.
Fire features and dry Utah summers
Fire restrictions are a normal part of summer along the Wasatch Front, and a wood fire pit is the first thing that becomes a problem when conditions get dry. A gas feature avoids most of that: no embers leaving the pit, no sparks landing in a dry lawn, and a flame you can shut off in a second if the wind picks up. It also means the feature is usable on the evenings you actually want it, rather than sitting unused through the driest stretch of the year. Our own case for gas over wood is simple: no smoke smell in your hair or your clothes, on and off in a second, no fire to tend, and nothing to hose down afterwards.

Common questions
Natural gas or propane?
We prefer natural gas and install more of it, simply because it is available across most of the area we work in. Where it is not, such as further up the valley, we use propane. If your home is already on natural gas, that is the straightforward choice.
Do I need a permit for a gas line?
Usually there is no permit for a natural gas fire pit, and it is a simpler conversation than a wood-burning one because gas burns clean. Requirements do vary, so we check with your city for the specific property rather than assuming.
Can it go under a covered patio or pergola?
Gas is the far safer option in a covered space because there are no embers or sparks. Clearances still matter, both from the house and overhead, and we check them with the city for the specific structure rather than working to a rule of thumb.
Can you build a custom shape or surround?
Yes. We weld in house, so a fire feature can be fabricated to the space rather than picked from a catalog. That is often what makes it look built in rather than purchased.
What does a gas fire pit cost?
It depends on the surround, the size, and how far the gas line has to run. We do not publish per-service pricing. Our projects start at $10,000, and a fire feature is quoted from the plan, for free.
