Pioneer Park is a backyard built around playing on it. The centerpiece is an artificial putting green with a kidney-shaped fairway fringe in a darker turf and a lighter putting surface inside it, three cups flagged and ready, with enough contour to be worth practicing on.
The green sits in a bed of light crushed rock rather than lawn, edged with boulders, so there is no turf to mow around it.
The green is set into a bed of light crushed rock and boulders rather than lawn, which is most of why it stays low effort. There is no turf running up to the edge to mow, edge, or water, and the rock holds a clean line around the whole shape. Young trees are staked along the boundary to fill the space in as they establish.
